it's picture time

I firmly resolve that before the weekend ends, I'll give myself some pampering like get myself a haircut or simply shave my nearly-a-month-long leg hair. Oh...just give me the strength Lord.

:p

See the beautiful star pins? I'm going to steal that...soon. ;p

This week has been the start of our merged lecture classes with Section A. Despite that, we were only just given an additional two hours of ISP. So, we still have less time to study. And two weeks from now, we'll be having our first exam so...musta naman diba.

I'm going to die...figuratively speaking. At least I got a perfect score on our Patho quiz...one sleepless night compensated. :)

And at least we're back to having our lunches made by Mang Nonoy. Cravings satisfied. Yum. Yum. =p

Aunty Inday and Uncle Udo have already left last Tuesday. They're back to their island hopping before going back to Germany. Their few days of stay at our home was like kinda crazy...nothing bad meant here. Just got super busy. And I don't want to dwell on details na. Basta Aunty Inday bought lots on her grocery shopping so I had a grand time eating whatever she bought. Hehe. Basta pagkain talaga. =p

(Left) Just one of the pineapple bundles my 'rents brought home from Bicol...and most of them, we gave away. (Middle) It's the "dumihan" fruit...from the "rambutan" family. Inside, it looks like "marang" naman. Beside the dumihan is a part of a big jackfruit, grapes (that's not from Bicol), and a bottle of iced tea. Hehe. :p; (Right) Bananas!!! That's of the señorita variety...not my fave.

This week, I got super addicted to eating fruits (since they brought lots of fruits back home from Bicol). As in. Three to five pieces of big lakatan bananas every day. How's that for a snack? =p Naku Julz...we had lots of pineapples too last weekend...but we already gave it to the neighbors eh. ;)

This is how the dumihan looked from inside.

Ice is the one in green. :)

Last weekend, we also celebrated Ice's birthday at Eastwood. It was supposedly a surprise party at Fuzion Eastwood...but lo and behold, we were the ones surprised. Cathe and I got there first, and we found out Fuzion was closed already. So, we had to make instant changes. It was decided that we'll meet at Jack's Loft (still at Eastwood) na lang. Nakow...walking around Eastwood that day was really hassle since it was raining. Then, we met some of Ice's college friends. Goodness...I forgot some of their names na...basta there was Ami, Charm, and the rest of the guys. (Musta namang med student...ulyanin.) Ice didn't know we were there (hidden behind measly menu folders). Kim just brought Ice to the place (with a bit of drama there) and well...Ice got surprised...including the part where she had to pay the bill. =p Anyway, for dinner, I shared a fishbowl iced tea with sis, grilled chicken breast over mashed potatoes and mushrooms, and that fried ice cream (whatchamacallit?). Then, with the following choices - karting near SM MOA (nah...twas too late already), a shisha session (uhm...woah tsong...high! =p), seeing a movie (late too), going to church (err?), and bowling (we were mostly no experts) - we decided to stick to the latter since Eastwood's bowling alley was still open. So there...we played a game til 1am. Antagal natapos coz the monitor and the pin fixing machine (whatever that was called) was going on and off. We were ultimately malas on that one. Cathe and I left after coz Uncle was already there to fetch us...kakahiya naman...but that was after going to CR and hearing someone cry in there. Issues. =p

And oh...can I just say E. C. is part owner of Jack's Loft. Wahaha! :D I'm gushing. Go do your own research and figure it out. ;p

Cheap thrills: Another camwhore moment...just some of my groupmates in PD2. Chris is hidden this time (this is the 2nd pic actually). Julz is having his moment. =p And I'm taking the picture. :)

Way to go classmates. Today is our last day in our ENT rotation. Ngarag. Impending penniless moment.

And now, we're back at the Neuro ward...interviewing a patient whose relatives just won't cooperate. Hassle to the max.

Mirror, mirror, oh so small...who's the fairest of them all? ;)

Goodness. I look like an Indian (as in those that live in teepees). Haha. =p

Oh Lord...please give me the chance to do some serious shopping...pretty please. :)

I've been bitten by the "flu-like" bug. Geez.

There's this epidemic at school and it has kept me totally insane for the past week. Thank God it's almost over. But I do hope it is completely over come next Friday because I have to perform some ENT examination and I also get to be a subject. Isn't it just uncomfy when you have a cold and a nasal speculum is inserted into your nose? Don't bother answering.

Let's see...this week has been just like the first previous weeks in med school. The only fun part would be times with my friends (although we really are too preoccupied lately with acads) and the latest Nintendo DS arcade sessions in class. ;p

We had our ENT lecture for PD today and can I just say we were too shocked with the 350 pesos worth manual we were getting this Tuesday and submitting on Friday. 350 pesos for only 2 sessions of ENT. How cool is that? *NOT!* Haay grabe...ito na lang mas cool...our preceptor for ENT was Kris Aquino's doctor when she had her some kinda tonsils problem. Ay...hindi pa rin super cool. Wala nang cool. Yun lang.

Another: We were scheduled to go to Bicol this weekend since my aunt and uncle from Germany need to attend a wedding there. But hey...sis and I are left here at home because of various school-related activities we have to prioritize. Ayun...wala nang Bicol.

Nakakatuwa yung Uncle ko...he barely understands and speaks English so we really can't understand each other, but he's more easier to approach now than before. He's really good at picking up visual cues and he's got this handy translator with him now. Hehe. He's a big fan of Deal or No Deal actually...even watching Maria Flordeluna while cross stitching (yeah...Uncle loves to cross stitch...and I just found out he works as a photographer in Germany...cool noh? :p). My cousin (about Cathe's age) didn't go with them this time coz he was kinda busy. Ayun...he already studied English (utos ni Aunty) so conversing is better now. Cute yon...haha. Pinromote ang pinsan. =p

Speaking of conversing, can I just say that it is some sort of weakness for me. As in. Frustration ko. I'm citing an example:

Two days ago (I think) while I was going home, I saw lots of people outside our subdivision. Curious, I urged myself to talk to the tricycle driver...

Me: Kuya, bakit po maraming tao?
TD: Ah...mga nag-aapply yan maging secu (sekyu as read). Security agency kasi yang office diyan eh...
Me: Ang dami naman nila...
Me: Ah...

Then silence.

O ha...I'm really good with ending conversations. Ganon talaga ako. Let's say I have something in mind. It will take me a long time to even think of something to add to that kaya hayon...tapos ang usapan.

Man...this is frustrating.

PBB Uplate na...gotta go. :)

Answer me. =p

lord...give me strength...don't let my BP shoot up.

GRABE!!!

Kung may HTN lang ako, I bet nasugod na ako sa hospital ngayon for high BP...at dahil lang yan sa PBB ha.

Nakakakulo ng dugo si Wendy. She doesn't even think before opening her big mouth. This is more than a test of friendship. This is a test of EQ, sportsmanship, and breeding as well.

And Wendy failed.

I secretly hope MTRCB suspends PBB. Wendy's actions weren't good examples to young viewers. Besides...PBB isn't a show for poor people. It's for deserving people.

May nabasa nga ako sa isang forum (haay...adik na kung adik) about a dad who gave her daughter a doll. Her daughter, a fan of G-Ann I guess, named the doll Pamela. When she heard about what Wendy said (something like G doesn't have friends kaya may Pamela siya), nagtanong yung bata sa dad niya kung magkaka-friends pa ba siya...something like that. O diba? Musta naman ang effect sa viewers?

I see Maricris in Wendy...yung tipong gusto rin niyang awayin o labanan siya para masabing totoo yung tao.

I'd rather not say more...although I really have lots of things to say. Basta. They all need to see a psychologist. Haha.

So yung dating suicide attempt ba ni G-Ann yung secret niya? Wala lang. =p

Tuturuan ko na nga ang mga tao dito sa bahay kumuha ng BP...just in case ako naman ang kailangang i-BP. =p

Ay...HTN and BP stands for hypertension and blood pressure respectively. In times like this, automatic pa rin ang med terms. =p

happy father's day dear fathers. :)

(Pics courtesy of Yahoo and its affiliates)

Now that was LOVE. :)

The priest who celebrated mass today had a very interesting homily. 'Twas funny yes...but I kinda enjoyed listening to it. Then I zoned out for the remainder of the mass. That is partly real. ;P

We didn't actually eat out today for Father's Day. We decided last week was enough eating out. That was like more than 2 thou worth of food for a day which was more than necessary. So what we did for today was order take out food at KFC and a cake at Red Ribbon and eat the food here at the comforts of our own dining table where we can sit with our foot on the chair and eat more than a cup of rice. Besides, the rest of my family like their brown rice and KFC definitely doesn't offer brown rice like we have at home.

As usual, I ate more than necessary. I'm really getting fat. But here's the funny thing. I was waiting for my sister last Friday at the tricycle post and Tita Luchi passed by and commented on how med school made me lose some weight. Like uhm...are you being sarcastic? :p I know she's sincere naman eh...pero what?!?! Hahaha. :D

It is funny how you're perception of an ideal body changes over the years.

10 years ago, I kinda hated my body because I was really thin. My ribs protruded and I looked kinda anorexic. People said I need to gain weight. I didn't dare wear a bikini because I was too thin.

6 years ago, I didn't hate my body...but I didn't love it as well. I wasn't that thin anymore...and (would you believe) I got some sort of abs and that 24 inch waistline most women want. Thanks to inconsistent ab crunches. People said I was gaining weight. I resolved to wearing tankinis because I wasn't too sure if bikinis were cut out for me yet.

Back to present. I am not too sure of what I really want already. I gained weight and ate the food I want. People are commenting on how fat I've become. I resolved to wearing bikinis not because I've got the body for it (I should have tried it out years ago when I was thinner pala) but because I already felt secure in wearing it.

Now how weird can "ideal" be? And that's not counting the number of times I've tried to diet and do inconsistent exercises in between. One word of advice...the South Beach Diet can do good only if you continue it because otherwise, you can gain weight easily after. :)

***

I am currently trying to do my school homework...in vain. Gawd...two weeks in 2nd yr med doesn't change things that quickly. =p Sis is already calling me a book anaconda (the worse version of book worm) but all I have at home are piles of books that are yet to be read.

So spare me the moment.

Like WHAT?!?!

toxic week.

Now what was I saying before? That my sked was kinda hectic? Let's change the adjective to the word "TOXIC". Grabe.

Super dami ko ngang makikwento...pero ito muna for now...

Flashback to Sunday. I convinced my dad na mamasyal sa Tagaytay. We went to Pink Sisters, bought these really beautiful flower-bearing plants kay Lolo (na super mura talaga) and super murang suka (Danci, you should get your share na talaga) and some kinda ube food (starts with the letter T...yun na). Went to Sonya's after to explore and buy bread. Tapos, we had dinner at this old (1985 - same age sa akin) Bulalo resto where we got really full (super sarap ng food pramis!) and took home a lot of leftovers.

Flashback to Monday. We had to shoot our presentation for Pharma where I got to play the dyosa-slash-seductress. Susme talaga. Well, we ended up with a really great video presentation, and I can just say how proud I am of my groupmates. :)

Flashback to the whole week. Super init grabe. Nakakapagod. I barely got time to read my books. Kasi naman, I usually sleep pag-uwi ko. It was also a week of food splurge. We ate a lot at this food booth in school na super expensive. Ok lang naman kasi super sarap talaga. Tapos, we always make tambay na lang sa Red Cross office kasi most of my lunchmates are Red Cross people. They're trying to convince me into joining pero ayoko talaga. Super hectic na kasi ng sked...I don't want to fall too short of my responsibilities and priorities. Mahirap na.

Now to today, Saturday. I sort of spent the whole day at school for some PD thing coz we still haven't finished doing the neuro exam for our patient. To think of it, this is like the 3rd day we visited him (not counting the number of times per day). Sabi nga nung nasa ward, ang sipag daw namin. Talaga.

But still, I'm kinda enjoying this PD stuff we're doing now. I'm learning lots of new things. Plus we go to the wards pa na super much awaited event ko. This is for real nga naman kasi. I'm actually thinking of getting my shots na. Mukhang kailangan na. Tapos may malaria thing pa ngayon sa may Antipolo. Scary.

Now back to the Neuro ward story. I saw a person who's close to dying today. Bedmate nung patient namin. Ang weird ng experience. The patient came in this morning kasi na-stroke ata. They were manually reviving him na when we came in. There came a point (around 11am) na kung saan, the interns were checking his stats including reflexes. Akala ko he was still okay kasi he was moving nga. Pero, like I learned, movement doesn't necessarily mean the patient's okay. Kasi...blah, blah, blah (purely med stuff so I won't bother). The JI called us also to let us see the "Hoffman's sign" (Yeah...tama si Chris. Ang bingi ko...naging "flicker sign" tuloy. =p). The Hoffman's sign is usually elicited when the person has upper motor neuron lesion and according to the JI, it's quite rare to see it. O diba? Some new stuff to learn for today. When a person has the said lesion, he's usually hyperreflexive so kaya panay yung movements. Echos. Tama na ang med terms.

Sometime before lunch, that patient's relatives came in. Yung nanay, umiyak at napaupo sa floor. Natakot ata yung mga tao don so pinakuha yung BP ni nanay. Susme. What an experience for all of us.

We spent some hours in the caf also. Naabutan kasi kami ng lunch time and siesta time ng patient namin...alangang gisingin namin diba. Ayon...caf time meant food temptations. Nakakataba at nakakabutas pa ng bulsa. Food splurge week talaga. :p

There was a super friendly kid sa caf today. C'mon...Pedia ward na guys. Neuro is very in-toxic-ating na. Pero enjoy pa rin. Labo. =p

1st week madness...talaga.

Hecticness is the name of the game.

Second year is TOTALLY different from my first year in med school. I have never felt so tired and worn out in my whole med life.

Parang exam week na. Ganon.

First day, opening ceremonies pa lang, sinalubong kami ng mga bagong electric fan (with the mist-pero-water-droplets-naman effect) sa gym na inakala naming nagbubuga ng alikabok or umuusok na dahil sira. Fine. That was funny.

Cool. *Ngek!*

Sinalubong din kami ng sangkatutak na freshies. 204 silang lahat. Samantalang kami, less than 200 na nga nung first year, nabawasan pa ng 45 so 120 na nga lang daw.

Nakipagkita si Hanni kahapon for lunch. Haay...wala na si Queen B. Med life will truly be different na. Pero may bago kaming classmate na transferee from St. Luke's...at nalaman ko pa ang kwento straight from a St. Luke's student. =p

Puro O yung starting letter ng surnames nga mga pumasok sa dean's list from our section. Congrats kina Olarte (3rd), Oliveros (8th), at Or (9th). Ang galing. =p

Nakipagkita ako kina Ivy, Dean, at Migo before going shopping. Wala kaming nabiling matino ni Tita. Lipgloss trial meron. Haha. :D

me.

And people have been on the hype. Might as well join the bandwagon. =p

I tried this out months ago actually but I lost my widget so here's a new one. :)

i want.

When I read that Nokia had its N95 out with 5 megapixels to boot, I said, in no way should my fave Sony Ericsson be without a counterpart. So what I did was research and voila! A yet to be released Sony Ericsson secret. And you know...when two quiet similar SE and Nokia phones are compared, SE fares better...right Danci? Hehe. :) Go check out it's features in the Internet. It's a K850i by the way.

Now, I have to pray it comes out this year sometime during my birthday or Christmas so I can convince my dad to buy me this one. ;)

I want. I want.

Now I believe it was fate why I wasn't able to buy the K800i...it's because of this.

Now let me sleep...and continue dreaming. =p

school, school, school...waah!

I refuse to sleep...because that would mean one night less of the three nights left before school starts. I refuse to drag this lazy ass of mine to school come Monday morning. I refuse to believe that I have to wake up that early to go back to school. I refuse to study my first year notes. I refuse to accept the fact that I am never going swimming this weekend.

But I love the fact that I'm about to get my weekly allowance again. Heehee. :)

I checked my old uniforms this morning to see if they still fit. Of course they do...I didn't really get THAT fat this vacation. Haha.

I have about two days left to go to the mall and buy school stuff including a new pair of shoes. I'm really being lazy...I can't even go to the mall. Heck! Tamad, tamad, tamad. I can't even go to the dressmaker to have new uniforms made. Tsk!

I'm still busy thinking what to do of my money. Okay...here's the deal. I have a scholarship this year...which I have yet to tell my aunt. It's still top secret. Cathe has her educ plans and scholarship too. So that leaves us both with some kinda spare money. Now...what to do? We both wanted a Nintendo DS at least. Haha. What big decisions do we make eh? :D *Of course, scholarship still goes for tuition...I'm just psyching myself into believing that the good old reward system will happen again and Papa's going to give us something. :)*

I'm kinda thinking how to extend our PC's mem so I can put a Sims game. I am missing making and designing houses. My mind's going whack making mental notes of my dream house...where the pool should be...how the facade should look...wall colors...including a neat garbage disposal method. Ngek. =p

I have my June weekends planned out just fine. Next weekend, I'll probably be out in Pangasinan with the fam. Good eh? Then about two weekends after, we're going to Bicol. Yey! We really have weird schedules. I have about two long months of vacation with nothing much to do and ten months of school with vacation weekends in between. That's how we like keeping ourselves busy. Crazy.

And oh...Ice is back from S'pore. Good. Galera plans...pwede na? =p
